Parish councils make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the local community.
Seeing your community change for the better, as a result of decisions you have helped to make, is something that can give you a sense of achievement and pride. Parish councillors have a dual role: they represent the views and concerns of the residents of the parish to the parish council itself, and through it, to the unitary authority. They then report back to the parish.
Councils usually meet once a month for the council meeting. In addition, councillors may be required to attend other meetings, community activities or help develop a new project for the community.
